| WHEREAS, The Cypress Creek High School girls' water polo team | ||
| again reached the pinnacle of success by winning its second | ||
| consecutive Texas Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association | ||
| state championship on May 6, 2017, at the Westside Aquatic Center in | ||
| Lewisville; and | ||
| WHEREAS, After securing the regional title with their | ||
| outstanding play in the regular season, the Cougars advanced to the | ||
| state meet, where they dominated squads from Marcus and Dawson High | ||
| Schools in the first two rounds of the tournament and overcame a | ||
| fourth-quarter deficit in the semifinal match against Southlake | ||
| Carroll High School to move on to the finale; in that game, these | ||
| talented young athletes faced off against St. Agnes Academy, | ||
| ultimately defeating their opponent 10-6 and defending their state | ||
| championship crown; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Cypress Creek's success was the result of a true | ||
| team effort, with each member of the roster providing valuable | ||
| contributions throughout the course of the season; moreover, the | ||
| Cougars drew on the expertise and inspirational leadership of head | ||
| coach Jeff Chandler and his staff; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Winning a state championship represents the | ||
| culmination of countless hours of hard work and an unswerving | ||
| commitment to excellence, and the Cypress Creek Cougars may take | ||
| justifiable pride in this outstanding accomplishment; now, | ||
| therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby congratulate the Cypress Creek High School | ||
| girls' water polo team on winning the 2017 Texas Interscholastic | ||
| Swimming Coaches Association state championship and extend to the | ||
| team's players, coaches, and staff sincere best wishes for | ||
| continued success; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas | ||
| House of Representatives. | ||
