R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
  passing of Maria del Carmen Rodriguez Macias of Dallas on February
  10, 2017, at the age of 92; and
         WHEREAS, Born on December 19, 1924, in La China, Mexico, to
  Francisco Rodriguez and Elisa Gonzalez, the former Teresa Rodriguez
  was the youngest of six children; after her father's sudden death,
  she moved to Montemorelos to live with her godparents, who renamed
  her Maria del Carmen; she exchanged the vows of matrimony with
  Benjamin Macias in 1947, and the couple settled in Dallas, where
  they welcomed three sons, Benjamin, Alfonso, and Gerardo; over the
  years, their family grew to include 7 grandchildren, Magdalena,
  Teresa, Rebecca, Susana, Michael, Gabriel, and Analucia, as well as
  17 great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, A skilled seamstress, Mrs. Macias worked for 25
  years at the National Embroidery Company; sustained throughout her
  life by a deep and abiding faith, she was a valued member of
  St. Mary of Carmel Catholic Church in Dallas for seven decades; she
  humbly and quietly served the priests of her parish by cooking meals
  and altering and laundering their clerical garments, and she was an
  active member of the Legion of Mary, the Guadalupana Society, and
  the Altar Society; moreover, she could often be found caring for the
  sick, offering her constant prayers to anyone in need, and
  performing other acts of kindness; and
         WHEREAS, Those fortunate enough to have known Maria del
  Carmen Macias will remember the way she touched their lives with her
  warmth, her generosity, and her boundless compassion, and she will
  forever hold a treasured place in their hearts; now, therefore, be
  it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of
  Maria del Carmen Rodriguez Macias and extend heartfelt sympathy to
  her loved ones; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Maria del
  Carmen Rodriguez Macias.
