| WHEREAS, Moisés E. Molina High School of the Dallas | ||
| Independent School District has been recognized as a Gold Ribbon | ||
| High School for 2017 by the nonprofit advocacy organization | ||
| Children at Risk; and | ||
| WHEREAS, For the past 12 years, Children at Risk has ranked | ||
| schools across the state as a guide for parents, educators, and | ||
| community members and as a way to inspire dialogue about the quality | ||
| of public education; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Each school is evaluated according to its STAAR test | ||
| scores in reading and math, its improvement over time on | ||
| standardized test scores in English, reading, and math, and its | ||
| success in preparing students for college; these indicators are | ||
| adjusted to eliminate bias toward schools with a low percentage of | ||
| students living in poverty; those traditional neighborhood schools | ||
| that have a high percentage of economically disadvantaged students | ||
| and that receive an A or a B in the Children at Risk rankings are | ||
| designated Gold Ribbon campuses; Molina High was one of three high | ||
| schools in North Texas to achieve this honor; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The education of young Texans is a vital enterprise, | ||
| and the teachers and administrators of Molina High School may take | ||
| great pride in their efforts to help their students reach their full | ||
| potential and become engaged and productive members of their | ||
| community; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby congratulate Moisés E. Molina High School on its | ||
| recognition as a 2017 Gold Ribbon High School and extend to the | ||
| school's faculty and staff sincere best wishes for continued | ||
| success in their important work; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for the school as an expression of high regard by the Texas | ||
| House of Representatives. | ||
