R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, William Hardin Adamson High School of the Dallas
Independent School District has been recognized as a Gold Ribbon
High School for 2017 by the nonprofit advocacy organization
  Children at Risk; and
WHEREAS, For the past 12 years, Children at Risk has ranked
schools across the state as a guide for parents, educators, and
community members and as a way to inspire dialogue about the quality
  of public education; and
WHEREAS, Each school is evaluated according to its STAAR test
scores in reading and math, its improvement over time on
standardized test scores in English, reading, and math, and its
success in preparing students for college; these indicators are
adjusted to eliminate bias toward schools with a low percentage of
students living in poverty; those traditional neighborhood schools
that have a high percentage of economically disadvantaged students
and that receive an A or a B in the Children at Risk rankings are
designated Gold Ribbon campuses; W. H. Adamson High was one of three

WHEREAS, The education of young Texans is a vital enterprise,
and the teachers and administrators of W. H. Adamson High School may
take great pride in their efforts to help their students reach their
full potential and become engaged and productive members of their
  community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
