R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Bernice Washington has been named chair of the board
  of directors of Texas Health Resources--Presbyterian Healthcare
  Resources in Dallas; and
         WHEREAS, The former chair of the Texas Health Presbyterian
  Hospital Plano board, Ms. Washington currently serves as a faculty
  member at The Governance Institute, which assists nonprofit
  hospital and health care systems; in addition, this esteemed civic
  leader serves on the DFW Airport Board of Directors and chairs the
  Terminal Renewal and Improvement Program; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Washington earned a bachelor's degree from
  Southern University in Louisiana and went on to receive a master's
  degree in business administration from the University of Missouri;
  she also holds a medical technologist certificate from the Research
  Medical Center in Kansas City; and
         WHEREAS, Founded in 1997, Texas Health Resources is one of
  the largest faith-based, nonprofit health care systems in the
  United States; the organization currently owns or is affiliated
  with 25 hospitals in North Texas, and its facilities employ more
  than 5,000 physicians; and
         WHEREAS, Bernice Washington has won deep respect for her
  commitment to providing outstanding health care to the people of
  North Texas, and Texas Health Resources is indeed fortunate to have
  such a strong and experienced leader at its helm; now, therefore,
  be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Bernice Washington on her
  selection as chair of the board of directors of Texas Health
  Resources--Presbyterian Healthcare Resources and extend to her
  sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Washington as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
