| WHEREAS, The Texas Historical Commission recently recognized | ||
| the El Paso County Historical Commission with the 2010 | ||
| Distinguished Service Award; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Given for outstanding preservation work, this honor | ||
| recognizes county historical commissions that have demonstrated an | ||
| exceptional commitment to promoting a greater understanding of | ||
| state and local history; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The El Paso County Historical Commission is | ||
| dedicated to protecting the area's legacy of historic structures | ||
| and artifacts for current and future generations through a variety | ||
| of programs and initiatives; in addition to its inherent | ||
| educational value, this important legacy also serves as a powerful | ||
| magnet for tourism, which in turn creates myriad economic benefits | ||
| for the county's residents; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The members of the El Paso County Historical | ||
| Commission are committed to preserving the rich and unique heritage | ||
| of El Paso and the surrounding communities, and their efforts | ||
| provide an inspiring model for the work of other groups around the | ||
| state; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas | ||
| Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate the El Paso | ||
| County Historical Commission on its receipt of a 2010 Distinguished | ||
| Service Award from the Texas Historical Commission and extend to | ||
| all those associated with the group sincere best wishes for | ||
| continued success; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for the organization as an expression of high regard by the | ||
| Texas House of Representatives. | ||
