R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Lissa Smith concluded her service as a member of the
  Plano City Council in 2017, and the outstanding contributions made
  by this esteemed public servant are indeed deserving of
  recognition; and
         WHEREAS, A valued resident of Plano since 1990, Ms. Smith was
  first elected to represent Place 4 on the city council in 2009;
  during her two terms in office, she focused her attention on such
  vital concerns as economic development, regional transportation,
  and public safety, and she was named mayor pro tem in 2012; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Smith has worked tirelessly in behalf of her
  community, serving as president of the North Central Texas Council
  of Governments and co-chair of the Dallas Regional Mobility
  Coalition; she has also given generously of her time and talents to
  the Regional Transportation Council, the North Texas Commission,
  the Plano Symphony Orchestra, and the Collin County Health Care
  Foundation; moreover, she has served as district director in the
  office of State Senator Florence Shapiro and as CEO of Collin County
  Meals on Wheels and Senior Services; and
         WHEREAS, With her many accomplishments, Ms. Smith has earned
  a place on the Inside Collin County Business "21 Leaders for the
  21st Century" list, and she received the Collin County League of
  United Latin American Citizens Civic Award in 2011; in all her
  endeavors, she enjoys the love and support of her husband, Bill, and
  their two children, Blake and Alexis; and
         WHEREAS, By providing thoughtful leadership and effectively
  representing the interests of their constituents, city council
  members strive each day to improve the quality of life in their
  communities, and the laudable efforts of Lissa Smith have helped to
  make Plano an even better place in which to live and work; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Lissa Smith for her
  exemplary service on the Plano City Council and extend to her
  sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Smith as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
