WHEREAS, Grady Prestage has ably served the people of Fort | ||
Bend County as county commissioner for two decades, and his | ||
knowledge and dedication have earned him the respect of many people | ||
along the way; and | ||
WHEREAS, After graduating from Southern University, Mr. | ||
Prestage worked as a civil engineer for a number of oil and gas | ||
companies and consulting engineering firms; he later served as a | ||
partner in a public relations and marketing consulting firm; and | ||
WHEREAS, On his election to Place 2 in November 1990, Mr. | ||
Prestage became the first African American since Reconstruction to | ||
serve on the Fort Bend County Commissioners Court; today, he | ||
represents citizens of Houston, Missouri City, Stafford, Quail | ||
Valley, and Fifth Street; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mr. Prestage has further contributed to his fellow | ||
residents through his work with the board of the Fort Bend Crime | ||
Victims Alliance, the Texas Department of State Health Services | ||
Indigent Health Care Advisory Committee, and the City of Houston | ||
Planning Commission; a senior fellow of the American Leadership | ||
Forum, he has also shared his time with the Chase Bank Post Oak | ||
Advisory Committee; and | ||
WHEREAS, Grady Prestage has demonstrated a lasting | ||
commitment to making Fort Bend County an even better place in which | ||
to live and work, and he may take justifiable pride in his exemplary | ||
record of achievement; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas | ||
Legislature hereby commend Fort Bend county commissioner Grady | ||
Prestage for his service to the community and extend to him sincere | ||
best wishes for continued success; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for Mr. Prestage as an expression of high regard by the | ||
Texas House of Representatives. | ||
