WHEREAS, A life of meaningful service drew to a close with the | ||
passing of Collin County Detention Officer Joseph Francis Quillen | ||
Jr., on December 1, 2020, at the age of 51; and | ||
WHEREAS, Joe Quillen was born on August 27, 1969, in Chester, | ||
Pennsylvania; answering his nation's call to duty, he served in the | ||
U.S. Navy for six years; in the course of his career in law | ||
enforcement, he worked as a detention officer with the Collin | ||
County Sheriff's Office for 19 years and held the master jailer | ||
certification and license; highly respected by his peers, he was an | ||
influential mentor to numerous members of the agency; and | ||
WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Officer Quillen enjoyed the | ||
love and support of his wife, Melissa, and he took great pride in | ||
his three sons; his family, friends, and colleagues appreciated his | ||
vibrant personality and sarcastic sense of humor, as well as his | ||
abiding kindness and compassion; and | ||
WHEREAS, A caring husband and father and a consummate law | ||
enforcement professional, Joe Quillen made a meaningful difference | ||
in the lives of his loved ones and fellow citizens alike, and he | ||
will forever be a source of inspiration to those he leaves behind; | ||
now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas | ||
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Officer Joseph | ||
Francis Quillen Jr. and extend sincere condolences to all who mourn | ||
his passing; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of | ||
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Officer Joe | ||
Quillen. | ||
