R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Velma Brown has been elected as first vice president
  of the board of the Sienna and East Fort Bend Democrats Club; and
         WHEREAS, Established by civic-minded individuals from Sienna
  Plantation, the Sienna and East Fort Bend Democrats Club provides a
  forum where local citizens may address concerns while staying
  informed on the political process; and
         WHEREAS, The organization is committed to advocating for all
  area residents, regardless of party affiliation, and aims to make a
  lasting difference in the community by promoting Democratic Party
  principles of social justice, meeting the needs of all people, and
  acting in the local, state, and national interest; and
         WHEREAS, As first vice president, Ms. Brown is responsible
  for grass roots training, and her efforts are contributing greatly
  to the group's continued growth; and
         WHEREAS, Through her dedicated work with the Sienna and East
  Fort Bend Democrats, Ms. Brown is setting an outstanding example of
  civic engagement; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Velma Brown on her election as
  first vice president of the board of the Sienna and East Fort Bend
  Democrats Club and extend to her sincere best wishes for the future;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Brown as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
