| WHEREAS, The North Richland Hills Parks and Recreation | ||
| Department received the 2013 Texas Gold Medal Award from the Texas | ||
| Recreation and Park Society; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A nonprofit professional and educational | ||
| organization, TRAPS works to advance parks, recreation, and leisure | ||
| services professions in Texas; its annual Gold Medal Awards are | ||
| presented to communities that have demonstrated excellence for | ||
| three consecutive years in park and recreation resource management, | ||
| community programs, long-range planning, and solicitation of | ||
| public input; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Under the leadership of managing director of | ||
| community services Vickie Loftice and assistant directors Bill | ||
| Thornton and Sharon Davis, NRH Parks and Recreation offers | ||
| residents more than 740 acres of parkland, as well as facilities for | ||
| athletics, community events, and cultural programs; the department | ||
| received the Texas Gold Medal Award in the category for cities with | ||
| populations between 50,000 and 100,000; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The North Richland Hills Parks and Recreation | ||
| Department contributes significantly to the quality of life in the | ||
| area, and all those associated with it may indeed take great pride | ||
| in this prestigious recognition of their efforts; now, therefore, | ||
| be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas | ||
| Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate the North | ||
| Richland Hills Parks and Recreation Department on its receipt of | ||
| the 2013 Texas Gold Medal Award from the Texas Recreation and Park | ||
| Society and extend to its staff sincere best wishes for continued | ||
| success; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for the department as an expression of high regard by the | ||
| Texas House of Representatives. | ||
