WHEREAS, The Honorable Mary Cunningham ably served the people | ||
of Llano County as county judge for four years, and her knowledge | ||
and dedication earned her the respect of many people along the way; | ||
and | ||
WHEREAS, In 2014, Judge Cunningham became the first woman | ||
elected as county judge in Llano County; she distinguished herself | ||
through her outstanding service as presiding officer of the | ||
commissioners court and through her astute leadership of county | ||
government operations; moreover, she was a speaker at several | ||
judicial conferences across the state; and | ||
WHEREAS, Judge Cunningham previously served as the associate | ||
judge of the 246th Judicial District Court in Harris County, | ||
presiding over family law cases; a graduate of South Texas College | ||
of Law, she began her career in general civil and criminal practice | ||
in the Harris County area; after earning certification in family | ||
law from the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in 2000, she | ||
focused exclusively on matters in that realm; and | ||
WHEREAS, Committed to the well-being of young people, Judge | ||
Cunningham became a court-appointed special advocate for children | ||
in Child Protective Services cases; she served as treasurer of the | ||
Llano County Child Welfare Board and began representing parties as | ||
an attorney ad litem in CPS, guardianship, and probate cases in the | ||
33rd & 424th Judicial District; and | ||
WHEREAS, Judge Mary Cunningham made many significant | ||
contributions to the betterment of life in Llano County over the | ||
course of her tenure as a public servant, and she may take | ||
justifiable pride in her exemplary record of achievement; now, | ||
therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas | ||
Legislature hereby honor Mary Cunningham for her service as county | ||
judge of Llano County and extend to her sincere best wishes for the | ||
future; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for Judge Cunningham as an expression of high regard by the | ||
Texas House of Representatives. | ||
