R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Amy Weinheimer graduated as valedictorian of her |
|
senior class at Groom High School on May 31, 2013; and |
|
WHEREAS, Earning the title of valedictorian requires not only |
|
intellect and aptitude, but also four years of dedication to the |
|
highest academic standards; to attain this coveted distinction, |
|
Ms. Weinheimer demonstrated a thorough understanding of a wide |
|
range of subjects, and the rewards of the countless hours she |
|
devoted to her studies are myriad; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Weinheimer, who served as president of her |
|
school's National Honor Society, received several scholarships |
|
from West Texas A&M University, including the Betty Teel Bivins |
|
Leadership Scholarship, as well as others from the Houston |
|
Livestock Show and Rodeo, the Better Business Bureau, the Groom |
|
Athlete Booster Club, and Christian Mothers; and |
|
WHEREAS, Active in University Interscholastic League |
|
competitions, this notable Texan qualified for regional in |
|
journalism for both headline and editorial writing and was named |
|
All Star Crew Best Sound Tech in One Act Play; vice president of the |
|
student council and an editor for the journalism/yearbook staff, |
|
she was named Student of the Month and a member of the Academic |
|
All-District team and was elected homecoming queen her senior year; |
|
she captained the cheerleading squad, played basketball, ran |
|
cross-country, and qualified for area and regional meets as a |
|
member of the track team; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Weinheimer worships at Immaculate Heart of Mary |
|
Catholic Church, where she participates in the youth ministry, and |
|
she has worked for her father and the school district; she heads to |
|
West Texas A&M University in the fall to major in agriculture; and |
|
WHEREAS, The daughter of proud parents Nick and Renee |
|
Weinheimer, Amy Weinheimer earned the respect and admiration of her |
|
teachers and classmates at Groom High School, and her exceptional |
|
scholastic ability, hard work, and commitment to excellence have |
|
opened the way to limitless opportunities for this remarkable young |
|
Texan; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Amy |
|
Weinheimer on being named valedictorian of the Groom High School |
|
Class of 2013 and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued |
|
success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Weinheimer as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
