R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, The Kilgore College Fire Academy hosted its 100th
  graduation ceremony on March 29, 2017; and
         WHEREAS, Established in 1989 by Mike Earley and other area
  fire chiefs and officials, the academy is dedicated to equipping
  aspiring firefighters with the skills necessary to protect the
  lives and property of their fellow citizens; in addition to its
  robust basic firefighter training, the program offers courses for
  certification in a range of specialized fields; and
         WHEREAS, Recognized as an exemplary program by the State of
  Texas, the academy is accredited by the Texas Commission on Fire
  Protection and the State Firefighters' and Fire Marshals'
  Association of Texas and approved by the Texas Higher Education
  Coordinating Board; and
         WHEREAS, The Kilgore College Fire Academy has produced some
  of the finest firefighters not only in East Texas but also across
  the Lone Star State and beyond, and this milestone presents a
  fitting opportunity to recognize this outstanding institution;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Kilgore College Fire Academy on
  its 100th graduating class and extend to all those associated with
  the program sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the academy as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
