R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, For the first time in school history, the Robstown |
|
High School marching band has qualified for the University |
|
Interscholastic League State Marching Band Contest; and |
|
WHEREAS, The Cotton Picker Band earned advancement to the |
|
state competition as a result of an outstanding showing at the Class |
|
4A Area E Marching Contest at Calallen High School in Corpus Christi |
|
on October 21, 2023, finishing ninth in the preliminary round and |
|
sixth in the finals among 36 competitors; and |
|
WHEREAS, Guided by marching band director Charles Cabrera, |
|
the Robstown High band will face off against the top marching bands |
|
in Texas at the state contest, which is being held at the Alamodome |
|
in San Antonio on November 1, 2023; and |
|
WHEREAS, The talented young performers of the Robstown High |
|
Cotton Picker Band have distinguished themselves through their hard |
|
work and dedication, and their recognition as one of the best |
|
marching bands in Texas is a source of tremendous pride to their |
|
school and their community; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate the Robstown |
|
High School Cotton Picker Band on advancing to the 2023 UIL 4A Open |
|
Class State Marching Band Contest and extend to its members sincere |
|
best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the band as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
