R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Honorable Terri Tipton Holder is retiring as
  judge of the 149th District Court on December 31, 2022, drawing to a
  close 12 years of exemplary service to the people of Brazoria
  County; and
         WHEREAS, Judge Holder was first elected in 2010, and she was
  reelected, unopposed, in 2014 and 2018; formerly a licensed peace
  officer and a Brazoria County assistant district attorney, she is
  the first woman elected as district court judge in Brazoria County;
  and
         WHEREAS, A 1977 graduate of Sam Houston State University,
  Terri Holder earned her law degree at the South Texas College of Law
  in 1982; for 28 years, she practiced law in civil and criminal
  cases, including more than 100 jury trials as first chair attorney,
  and she appeared before appellate courts at all levels; she served
  with the Walker County special prosecution unit, and she is a former
  president of the Brazoria County Bar Association; and
         WHEREAS, Judge Holder has also found time to contribute to
  her community; she implemented and directed the county's For Kids'
  Sake program, and she has served on the boards of the Brazoria
  County Association for Citizens with Handicaps, Angleton Area
  Emergency Medical Corps, the Brazoria County Fair Association, and
  the chief's advisory committee of the Freeport Police Department;
  and
         WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, she benefits from the love and
  support of her husband, the Honorable Marc Holder, and she takes
  great pride in their three children, Stephani, Randi, and Cody, and
  their 10 grandchildren; she has been an active member of Second
  Baptist Church since 1982; and
         WHEREAS, Terri Holder's dedication, integrity, and
  commitment to justice have greatly benefited the citizens of
  Brazoria County and earned her the respect and admiration of her
  peers, and she may indeed reflect with pride on her record of
  service as she embarks on the next exciting chapter of her life;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
  Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate Terri Tipton
  Holder on her retirement from the 149th District Court and extend to
  her sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Judge Holder as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
