R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Donovan Cruz served his country with great honor and |
|
|
distinction as a member of the United States military, and he is |
|
|
being recognized for his contributions at the 27th Annual San |
|
|
Elizario Veterans Day Celebration on November 11, 2023; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Originally celebrated as Armistice Day in |
|
|
recognition of the end of World War I, Veterans Day now honors all |
|
|
who have served in the armed forces, including the former members of |
|
|
the U.S. Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Space Force, Coast |
|
|
Guard, and National Guard; by upholding America's foundational |
|
|
values of selflessness and sacrifice, they have helped ensure that |
|
|
our country's promise will endure for generations to come; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Answering his nation's call to duty, Donovan Cruz |
|
|
joined the U.S. Coast Guard in 2006 and went on to complete his |
|
|
enlistment at the rank of seaman E-3 in 2010; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Demonstrating exemplary dedication, Donovan Cruz |
|
|
upheld the highest ideals of the U.S. armed forces during his years |
|
|
in uniform, and his fellow citizens owe him a lasting debt of |
|
|
gratitude; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
|
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby honor Donovan Cruz for his |
|
|
military service on the occasion of the 27th Annual San Elizario |
|
|
Veterans Day Celebration and extend to him sincere best wishes for |
|
|
the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Cruz as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
