WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the | ||
passing of George W. Atteberry of Woodville on August 3, 2021, at | ||
the age of 78; and | ||
WHEREAS, George Atteberry was born on July 9, 1943; answering | ||
his nation's call to duty, he joined the United States Air Force and | ||
went on to complete four tours in Vietnam; he ultimately retired | ||
from the military at the rank of tech sergeant after 22 years of | ||
dedicated service; and | ||
WHEREAS, Returning to civilian life, Mr. Atteberry worked as | ||
a corrections officer for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice | ||
for 15 years; a valued member of his community, he served with the | ||
Ivanhoe Volunteer Fire Department and the Warren Volunteer Fire | ||
Department, and he was later appointed fire marshal of the Tyler | ||
County emergency district; and | ||
WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Atteberry enjoyed the love | ||
and support of his wife, Antoinette, and he took great pride in his | ||
daughters, Shawnee and Nacole; with the passing years, he had the | ||
pleasure of welcoming into his family numerous grandchildren and | ||
great-grandchildren; and | ||
WHEREAS, Known for his kindness, wisdom, and strength of | ||
character, George Atteberry earned the respect and admiration of | ||
all who were fortunate enough to know him, and he leaves behind a | ||
legacy of service that his loved ones can remember with pride; now, | ||
therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas | ||
Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of | ||
George W. Atteberry and extend deepest condolences to the members | ||
of his family: to his wife, Antoinette Atteberry; to his daughters, | ||
Shawnee Lovin and Nacole Miller; to his brother, Kyle Atteberry; to | ||
his grandchildren, Kenneth Atteberry, Desiree Swenson, Alicia | ||
Atteberry, and Krysteena Brockman; to his nieces, nephews, and | ||
great-grandchildren; and to his other relatives and friends; and, | ||
be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of | ||
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of George | ||
Atteberry. | ||
