R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Citizens of Grand Prairie are coming together to |
|
take part in the annual National Night Out on October 1, 2013; and |
|
WHEREAS, Introduced in 1984, National Night Out is sponsored |
|
by the National Association of Town Watch, a nonprofit organization |
|
dedicated to the development and promotion of crime prevention |
|
programs; more than 37 million people in 15,000 communities across |
|
the United States and Canada now participate in the event; and |
|
WHEREAS, Commemorated through neighborhood gatherings, |
|
cookouts, parades, flashlight walks, and other activities, the |
|
National Night Out helps to build community cohesiveness, |
|
strengthen relations between residents and local police, and |
|
increase awareness of anticrime strategies, while sending a message |
|
of solidarity to would-be criminals; and |
|
WHEREAS, The importance of crime prevention cannot be |
|
overstated, and by taking part in National Night Out observances, |
|
the residents of Grand Prairie are affirming their commitment to |
|
making their community stronger and safer; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby commemorate the 2013 |
|
National Night Out in Grand Prairie and extend to its participants |
|
and sponsors sincere best wishes for a meaningful and memorable |
|
event; and, be it further |
|
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the city of Grand Prairie as an expression of high |
|
regard by the Texas House of Representatives. |
