HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Residents of Houston lost an admired civic leader |
|
with the untimely death of John R. Boettiger, Jr., on May 15, 2011, |
|
at the age of 40; and |
|
WHEREAS, The son of Nancy Volz Boettiger and John R. |
|
Boettiger, Sr., Mr. Boettiger was born in San Antonio on February |
|
18, 1971; his love of nature led him to scouting and he not only |
|
attained the rank of Eagle Scout, but also earned the prestigious |
|
Leadership in Action Award; and |
|
WHEREAS, After completing his bachelor's degree in business |
|
administration at The University of Texas at Austin, Mr. Boettiger |
|
went on to earn his MBA there as well; he joined Deloitte Financial |
|
Advisory Services, LLP, in Houston and his brilliance, energy, and |
|
easy rapport with colleagues and clients brought him a promotion to |
|
principal after only seven years with the firm; highly respected in |
|
his profession, he was elected chair of the Texas Lyceum |
|
Association and was named to the inaugural Class of 40 Under 40 by |
|
the Houston Business Journal in 2009; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Boettiger married Michele Kokos on December 30, |
|
1993, and the couple became the proud parents of three daughters, |
|
Amelia, Amber, and Ava; devoted to both his family and the wider |
|
community, Mr. Boettiger volunteered tirelessly for business and |
|
charitable organizations and held numerous leadership positions; |
|
he was a Third Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, served on |
|
the boards of Project SEARCH, Crimestoppers of Houston, and the Sam |
|
Houston Area Council of Boy Scouts of America, and was a member of |
|
the advisory committee of the Immunization Partnership; in 2008, he |
|
was named one of the Five Outstanding Young Texans by the Texas |
|
Jaycees; and |
|
WHEREAS, John Boettiger expressed his strong faith through |
|
his many good works, and his warm smile and ready laughter brought |
|
joy to innumerable people; although he will be deeply missed, his |
|
kindness, compassion, and dedication to his community will continue |
|
to inspire those who were privileged to share in the richness of his |
|
life; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the 82nd Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute |
|
to the memory of John R. Boettiger, Jr., and extend sincere sympathy |
|
to the members of his family: to his wife, Michele Boettiger; to his |
|
daughters, Amelia, Amber, and Ava Boettiger; to his parents, Nancy |
|
Boettiger and John R. Boettiger, Sr.; to his brother, Jeffrey |
|
Boettiger, and his wife, Kathleen; to his sister, Julie Boettiger |
|
Mullinax; to his nieces, Samantha, Kaitlyn, and Parker; and to his |
|
other relatives and friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of |
|
John R. Boettiger, Jr. |
