A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to notice of the cost of a forensic examination for a
  victim of an alleged sexual assault.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Article 56.06, Code of Criminal Procedure, is
  amended by adding Subsection (c-1) to read as follows:
         (c-1)  A law enforcement agency described by Subsection (c)
  shall provide to the victim of an alleged sexual assault:
               (1)  the standard information form for sexual assault
  survivors developed under Section 323.005(a), Health and Safety
  Code; and
               (2)  oral notice that the forensic medical examination
  is provided at no cost to the victim.
         SECTION 2.  Article 56.065, Code of Criminal Procedure, is
  amended by adding Subsection (c-1) to read as follows:
         (c-1)  A health care facility described by Subsection (c)
  shall provide to the victim of an alleged sexual assault:
               (1)  the standard information form for sexual assault
  survivors developed under Section 323.005(a), Health and Safety
  Code; and
               (2)  oral notice that the forensic medical examination
  is provided at no cost to the victim.
         SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
