| relating to the disposition of certain surplus property by the | ||
| Department of Public Safety to certain local governments. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Subchapter F, Chapter 2175, Government Code, is | ||
| amended by adding Section 2175.308 to read as follows: | ||
| Sec. 2175.308. EXCEPTION FOR CERTAIN DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC | ||
| SAFETY PROPERTY. Notwithstanding other provisions of this chapter, | ||
| the Department of Public Safety may sell at a 30 percent discount | ||
| directly to a county or municipality located within 30 miles of the | ||
| Texas-Mexico border: | ||
| (1) a surplus law enforcement motor vehicle; or | ||
| (2) other surplus law enforcement equipment, | ||
| including radios, personal protection equipment, and weapons | ||
| accessories. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
| a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
| provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
| Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
| Act takes effect September 1, 2015. | ||
