relating to the disposition of certain surplus property by the | ||
Department of Public Safety to certain local governments. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Subchapter F, Chapter 2175, Government Code, is | ||
amended by adding Section 2175.308 to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 2175.308. EXCEPTION FOR CERTAIN DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC | ||
SAFETY PROPERTY. Notwithstanding other provisions of this chapter, | ||
the Department of Public Safety may sell at a 30 percent discount | ||
directly to a county or municipality located within 30 miles of the | ||
Texas-Mexico border: | ||
(1) a surplus law enforcement motor vehicle; or | ||
(2) other surplus law enforcement equipment, | ||
including radios, personal protection equipment, and weapons | ||
accessories. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
