A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to the disposition of certain surplus property by the
  Department of Public Safety to certain local governments.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Subchapter F, Chapter 2175, Government Code, is
  amended by adding Section 2175.308 to read as follows:
         Sec. 2175.308.  EXCEPTION FOR CERTAIN DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC
  SAFETY PROPERTY. Notwithstanding other provisions of this chapter,
  the Department of Public Safety may sell at a 30 percent discount
  directly to a county or municipality located within 30 miles of the
  Texas-Mexico border:
               (1)  a surplus law enforcement motor vehicle; or
               (2)  other surplus law enforcement equipment,
  including radios, personal protection equipment, and weapons
  accessories.
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
  a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
  provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
  Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
  Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
