relating to an adjustment under the foundation school program of | ||
the taxable value of property for school districts required to | ||
provide social security coverage for district employees. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Subchapter E, Chapter 42, Education Code, is | ||
amended by adding Section 42.2529 to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 42.2529. ADJUSTMENT FOR DISTRICT PROVIDING SOCIAL | ||
SECURITY COVERAGE. (a) For purposes of Chapters 41 and 46 and this | ||
chapter, the commissioner shall reduce the taxable value of | ||
property of a school district that provided social security | ||
coverage, as defined by Section 606.001, Government Code, for | ||
district employees before January 1, 2017, by a percentage of value | ||
equal to the percentage of the district's required contribution for | ||
social security coverage. | ||
(b) An action of the commissioner under this section is | ||
final and may not be appealed. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017, if it | ||
receives a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each | ||
house, as provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. | ||
If this Act does not receive that vote, this Act takes effect on the | ||
91st day after the last day of the legislative session. |
