A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to municipal or county authority to prohibit the use of
  natural gas utility service in a building.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Chapter 250, Local Government Code, is amended
  by adding Section 250.012 to read as follows:
         Sec. 250.012.  NATURAL GAS UTILITY SERVICE. Notwithstanding
  any other law, a municipality or county may not adopt or enforce an
  ordinance, order, or other regulation that prohibits the use of
  natural gas utility service in a building as a condition to receive
  a permit or other approval required to construct or improve the
  building.
         SECTION 2.  The changes in law made by this Act apply only to
  an application for a permit or other approval filed on or after the
  effective date of this Act.
         SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
