AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the powers and duties of the Willacy County Drainage |
|
|
District No. 2. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 6611.101, Special District Local Laws |
|
|
Code, is amended to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 6611.101. GENERAL POWERS AND DUTIES. To accomplish |
|
|
the purpose of reclaiming and draining the district's overflowed |
|
|
lands and other lands needing drainage, the district has all the |
|
|
rights, powers, privileges, and duties provided by general law |
|
|
applicable to a drainage [fresh water supply] district created |
|
|
under Section 59, Article XVI, Texas Constitution[, including the |
|
|
power to conserve, transport, and distribute fresh water]. |
|
|
SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act does not |
|
|
affect the authority of the district to impose taxes or issue bonds. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
