BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 41.002, Election Code, is amended to | ||
read as follows: | ||
Sec. 41.002. GENERAL ELECTION FOR STATE AND COUNTY | ||
OFFICERS. The general election for state and county officers shall | ||
be held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November in | ||
odd-numbered [ |

SECTION 2. Section 41.007, Election Code, is amended to | ||
read as follows: | ||
Sec. 41.007. PRIMARY ELECTIONS. (a) The general primary | ||
election date is the first Tuesday in September [ |
||
odd-numbered [ |
||
(b) The runoff primary election date is the fourth Tuesday | ||
in September [ |
||
election. | ||
(c) The presidential primary election date is the first | ||
Tuesday in March in each presidential election year. | ||
(d) No other election may be held on the date of a primary | ||
election. | ||
SECTION 3. Section 172.023(a), Election Code, is amended to | ||
read as follows: | ||
(a) An application for a place on the general primary | ||
election ballot must be filed not later than 6 p.m. on the second | ||
Monday in December of an even-numbered [ |

the filing deadline is extended under Subchapter C. | ||
SECTION 4. This Act takes effect January 1, 2022. |
