relating to the vaccination against bacterial meningitis of public | ||
school students. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 38.001, Education Code, is amended by | ||
adding Subsection (a-1) to read as follows: | ||
(a-1) Except as provided by Subsection (c), each student | ||
shall be fully immunized against bacterial meningitis in accordance | ||
with the most recent recommendations of the Advisory Committee on | ||
Immunization Practices of the Centers for Disease Control and | ||
Prevention. The executive commissioner of the Health and Human | ||
Services Commission shall adopt rules for the implementation of | ||
this subsection. | ||
SECTION 2. Not later than June 1, 2020, the executive | ||
commissioner of the Health and Human Services Commission shall | ||
adopt the rules necessary to implement Section 38.001(a-1), | ||
Education Code, as added by this Act. | ||
SECTION 3. Section 38.001(a-1), Education Code, as added by | ||
this Act, applies beginning with the 2020-2021 school year. | ||
SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
