relating to a study regarding the electric grid facilities that use | ||
nuclear energy to generate electricity. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. STUDY. The Public Utility Commission of Texas | ||
shall conduct a study regarding: | ||
(1) the feasibility and regulatory requirements of | ||
integrating into the electric grid additional facilities that use | ||
nuclear energy to generate electricity; and | ||
(2) the options available for extending the operating | ||
life of existing facilities that use nuclear energy to generate | ||
electricity. | ||
SECTION 2. REPORT. The Public Utility Commission of Texas | ||
shall prepare a report with the conclusions of the study with | ||
recommendations for regulatory changes and possible economic | ||
incentives to support the installation of additional facilities | ||
that use nuclear energy to generate electricity and submit the | ||
report to the legislature not later than August 31, 2024. | ||
SECTION 3. EXPIRATION. This Act expires December 1, 2024. | ||
SECTION 4. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Act takes effect September | ||
1, 2023. |
