| relating to a study regarding the electric grid facilities that use | ||
| nuclear energy to generate electricity. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. STUDY. The Public Utility Commission of Texas | ||
| shall conduct a study regarding: | ||
| (1) the feasibility and regulatory requirements of | ||
| integrating into the electric grid additional facilities that use | ||
| nuclear energy to generate electricity; and | ||
| (2) the options available for extending the operating | ||
| life of existing facilities that use nuclear energy to generate | ||
| electricity. | ||
| SECTION 2. REPORT. The Public Utility Commission of Texas | ||
| shall prepare a report with the conclusions of the study with | ||
| recommendations for regulatory changes and possible economic | ||
| incentives to support the installation of additional facilities | ||
| that use nuclear energy to generate electricity and submit the | ||
| report to the legislature not later than August 31, 2024. | ||
| SECTION 3. EXPIRATION. This Act expires December 1, 2024. | ||
| SECTION 4. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Act takes effect September | ||
| 1, 2023. | ||
