A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
 
  relating to the operation of a motor vehicle at an intersection with
  a stop sign.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 544.010(c), Transportation Code, is
  amended to read as follows:
         (c)  An operator required to stop by this section shall stop
  at a clearly marked stop line [before entering the crosswalk on the
  near side of the intersection]. In the absence of a clearly marked
  stop line [crosswalk], the operator shall stop before entering the
  crosswalk on the near side of the intersection [at a clearly marked
  stop line].  In the absence of a clearly marked stop line or
  crosswalk, the operator shall stop at the place nearest the
  intersecting roadway where the operator has a view of approaching
  traffic on the intersecting roadway.
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
