A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to the acceptance of identification for voters who
  identify as transgender.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Subchapter F, Chapter 32, Election Code, is
  amended by adding Section 32.116 to read as follows:
         Sec. 32.116.  TRAINING RELATED TO VOTERS WHO IDENTIFY AS
  TRANSGENDER. A program, standard, or material for training
  developed under this subchapter must include:
               (1)  guidance for election workers to accept photo
  identification that may not align with a person's presenting gender
  expression or identity; and
               (2)  information about voters who identify as
  transgender and their historical disenfranchisement.
         SECTION 2.  Section 63.0101, Election Code, is amended by
  adding Subsection (d) to read as follows:
         (d)  An indication of gender on a form of identification
  described by this section that does not align with the gender
  expression or identity of the person seeking to vote does not
  invalidate the form of identification for the purpose of accepting
  a voter for voting.
         SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
