A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to the delegation of prescriptive authority by physicians.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 157.0512, Occupations Code, is amended
  by adding Subsection (j-1) to read as follows:
         (j-1)  A physician may not request or receive remuneration
  for delegating prescriptive authority to an advanced practice
  registered nurse or physician assistant.
         SECTION 2.  This Act applies only to a delegation of
  prescriptive authority given on or after the effective date of this
  Act.  A delegation given before the effective date of this Act is
  governed by the law as it existed immediately before that date, and
  the former law is continued in effect for that purpose.
         SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
