A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to de novo review of certain juvenile matters referred to
  juvenile court masters in Harris County.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Subchapter K, Chapter 54, Government Code, is
  amended by adding Section 54.821 to read as follows:
         Sec. 54.821.  DE NOVO HEARING. A finding or recommendation
  in a juvenile court master's report relating to any aspect of a
  juvenile matter referred to the master and brought under Title 3 or
  Title 5, Family Code, or in connection with Rule 308a, Texas Rules
  of Civil Procedure, is subject to de novo review by the judge of the
  referring court in the same manner as a case referred to an
  associate judge under Subchapter D, Chapter 201, Family Code, is
  reviewed. 
         SECTION 2.  Section 54.821, Government Code, as added by
  this Act, applies only to a juvenile matter referred to a juvenile
  court master under Subchapter K, Chapter 54, Government Code, on or
  after the effective date of this Act.
         SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
