A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to making an appropriation to provide grants to assist
  counties in providing indigent defense services.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  In addition to other amounts appropriated to the
  Texas Judicial Council for the state fiscal biennium ending August
  31, 2019, $15,795,000 is appropriated to the council for the state
  fiscal year ending August 31, 2018, and $15,400,000 is appropriated
  to the council for the state fiscal year ending August 31, 2019,
  from the Fair Defense Account No. 5073 for Strategy D.1.1., Texas
  Indigent Defense Commission, as listed in S.B. 1, Acts of the 85th
  Legislature, Regular Session, 2017 (the General Appropriations
  Act), for the purpose of that commission making grants to assist
  counties in providing indigent defense services as provided by
  Section 79.037, Government Code.
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
  a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
  provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
  Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
  Act takes effect on the 91st day after the last day of the
  legislative session.
