| relating to making an appropriation to provide grants to assist | ||

| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. In addition to other amounts appropriated to the | ||
| Texas Judicial Council for the state fiscal biennium ending August | ||
| 31, 2019, $15,795,000 is appropriated to the council for the state | ||
| fiscal year ending August 31, 2018, and $15,400,000 is appropriated | ||
| to the council for the state fiscal year ending August 31, 2019, | ||
| from the Fair Defense Account No. 5073 for Strategy D.1.1., Texas | ||
| Indigent Defense Commission, as listed in S.B. 1, Acts of the 85th | ||
| Legislature, Regular Session, 2017 (the General Appropriations | ||
| Act), for the purpose of that commission making grants to assist | ||
| counties in providing indigent defense services as provided by | ||
| Section 79.037, Government Code. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
| a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
| provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
| Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
| Act takes effect on the 91st day after the last day of the | ||
| legislative session. | ||
