relating to a study by the Texas A&M Transportation Institute on the | ||
impacts to state and local roads and bridges from increasing | ||
maximum weight limits for certain vehicles transporting sand. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. (a) The Texas A&M Transportation Institute | ||
shall conduct a study on the estimated impacts to state and local | ||
roads and bridges, including impacts on traffic volume and safety | ||
on those roads and bridges, resulting from increasing the maximum | ||
allowable weight limits established by Subtitle E, Title 7, | ||
Transportation Code, for a truck-tractor and semitrailer | ||
combination transporting sand at the gross weights and axle | ||
requirements specified by Section 623.402, Transportation Code, as | ||
added by Chapter 108 (S.B. 1524), Acts of the 85th Legislature, | ||
Regular Session, 2017. | ||
(b) Not later than October 1, 2020, the Texas A&M | ||
Transportation Institute shall submit a report on the results of | ||
the study to each standing committee of the legislature with | ||
jurisdiction over transportation matters. | ||
(c) This Act expires January 1, 2021. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
