A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to the applicability of certain laws relating to
  contingent fee contracts for legal services entered into by certain
  political subdivisions.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 2254.102(e), Government Code, is amended
  to read as follows:
         (e)  This subchapter does not apply to a contract for legal
  services entered into under Section 6.30, Tax Code, Article
  103.0031, Code of Criminal Procedure, Sections 11.38(b-1) and
  61.36(b-1), Alcoholic Beverage Code, or Section 1201.027 of this
  code except that Sections 2254.1032, 2254.1034, 2254.1036, and
  2254.1037 of this code do apply to the contract.
         SECTION 2.  The change in law made by this Act applies only
  to a contract entered into on or after the effective date of this
  Act. A contract entered into before the effective date of this Act
  is governed by the law in effect immediately before the effective
  date of this Act, and that law is continued in effect for that
  purpose.
         SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
