A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to the reimbursement of residents of public housing
  authorities for certain losses resulting from a disaster.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Subchapter D, Chapter 392, Local Government
  Code, is amended by adding Section 392.068 to read as follows:
         Sec. 392.068.  PROGRAM FOR REIMBURSEMENT OF CERTAIN RESIDENT
  EXPENSES. A housing authority shall adopt a program that uses any
  available funds to reimburse residents of the authority's housing
  facilities for medication or medical equipment that was:
               (1)  partially or fully paid for by or provided through
  a governmental assistance program, including Medicare or Medicaid;
  and
               (2)  damaged or destroyed as the result of a disaster,
  including an extended power outage.
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
