BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 40, Human Resources Code, | ||
is amended by adding Section 40.0328 to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 40.0328. CASEWORKER PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT | ||
EXAMINATION. (a) A child protective services caseworker may not | ||
work in the field unless the caseworker has passed the child | ||
protective services professional development examination with a | ||
score of 70 percent or more. | ||
(b) A caseworker who does not pass the child protective | ||
services professional development examination may not retake the | ||
examination until the caseworker has completed a skills development | ||
plan under the supervision of the caseworker's direct supervisor. | ||
A caseworker may not take the examination more than three times. | ||
(c) The department may annually update the child protective | ||
services professional development examination. | ||
(d) The executive commissioner may adopt rules to implement | ||
this section. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
