A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to prohibiting the designation of polling place locations |
|
|
on the campuses of institutions of higher education. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 43, Election Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 43.008 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 43.008. CAMPUS POLLING PLACE PROHIBITED. (a) In this |
|
|
section, "institution of higher education" has the meaning assigned |
|
|
by Section 61.003, Education Code. |
|
|
(b) The commissioners court of a county may not designate as |
|
|
a polling place a location on the campus of an institution of higher |
|
|
education located within the county. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
