| relating to the hours for the sale and consumption of alcoholic | ||
| beverages at certain licensed or permitted premises during special | ||
| events. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Chapter 105, Alcoholic Beverage Code, is amended | ||
| by adding Section 105.11 to read as follows: | ||
| Sec. 105.11. HOURS OF SALE AND CONSUMPTION: HOTEL BARS | ||
| DURING SPECIAL EVENTS. (a) Notwithstanding any other provision of | ||
| this code, the commission, on the request of the chief executive | ||
| officer of a municipality, may extend the hours during which | ||
| alcoholic beverages may be sold and consumed in a licensed or | ||
| permitted premises located in a hotel in the municipality during a | ||
| special event that is being held in or near the municipality. | ||
| (b) The commission may extend the hours for the sale and | ||
| consumption of alcoholic beverages under this section for a period | ||
| not to exceed 72 consecutive hours. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
| a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
| provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
| Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
| Act takes effect September 1, 2021. | ||
