relating to reimbursement of certain medical costs for victims of | ||
certain sex offenses. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Article 56.46, Code of Criminal Procedure, is | ||
amended by adding Subsection (d) to read as follows: | ||
(d) Subsection (a) does not apply to reimbursement for a | ||
forensic medical examination performed in accordance with | ||
Subchapter B, Chapter 420, Government Code, or for any other | ||
medical care described by Section 323.004, Health and Safety Code, | ||
if the examination or care was provided to the victim of an offense | ||
under Section 21.02, 21.11, 22.011, or 22.021, Penal Code. | ||
SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only | ||
to compensation for criminally injurious conduct occurring on or | ||
after the effective date of this Act. Compensation for criminally | ||
injurious conduct occurring before the effective date of this Act | ||
is governed by the law in effect on the date the conduct occurred, | ||
and the former law is continued in effect for that purpose. For | ||
purposes of this section, criminally injurious conduct occurred | ||
before the effective date of this Act if any element of the offense | ||
underlying the conduct occurred before that date. | ||
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
