A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to an annual report concerning the number of inmates who
  have been in the conservatorship of a state agency responsible for
  providing child protective services.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 501.023(b), Government Code, is amended
  to read as follows:
         (b)  Not later than December 31 of each year, the department
  shall submit a report to the governor, the lieutenant governor,
  [the speaker of the house of representatives,] and each member of
  the legislature and shall make the report available to the public on
  the department's Internet website [standing committee having
  primary jurisdiction over the department].  The report must
  summarize statistical information concerning the total number of
  inmates who have at any time been in the conservatorship of a state
  agency responsible for providing child protective services,
  including, disaggregated by age, the number of inmates who have not
  previously served a term of imprisonment.
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
