relating to the prohibition against age discrimination in certain | ||

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 21.101, Labor Code, is amended to read as | ||
follows: | ||
Sec. 21.101. AGE DISCRIMINATION LIMITED TO INDIVIDUALS OF | ||
CERTAIN AGE. The [ |

provisions of this chapter referring to discrimination because of | ||
age or on the basis of age apply only to discrimination against an | ||
individual 40 years of age or older. | ||
SECTION 2. Section 21.054(b), Labor Code, is repealed. | ||
SECTION 3. The change in law made by this Act applies only | ||
to conduct that occurs on or after the effective date of this Act. | ||
Conduct that occurs before the effective date of this Act is | ||
governed by the law in effect on the date the conduct occurred, and | ||
the former law is continued in effect for that purpose. | ||
SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. | ||
