relating to a study on early detection and early intervention in | ||
cases of children with autism spectrum disorders. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. (a) The Health and Human Services Commission | ||
shall conduct a study on: | ||
(1) early detection and early intervention in cases of | ||
children with autism spectrum disorders, including the accurate | ||
diagnosis of children with autism spectrum disorders at birth; | ||
(2) the educational and developmental benefits of | ||
early diagnosis and the prompt provision of therapy to children | ||
diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders; and | ||
(3) potential legislative solutions to promote early | ||
diagnosis and early intervention in cases of children with autism | ||
spectrum disorders. | ||
(b) Not later than December 1, 2018, the executive | ||
commissioner of the Health and Human Services Commission shall | ||
provide a report on the results of the study to the governor, the | ||
lieutenant governor, and the legislature. | ||
(c) This section expires September 1, 2019. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
