IN RE: |
SB231 by Seliger (Relating to training for county election officers.), As Introduced |
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Election Code to require the Secretary of State to provide a standardized training program and materials to county election officers in the same manner the Secretary of State provides such a program to election judges and clerks. This training program would involve developing a curriculum, creating training materials, and providing training to county election officials.
The analysis assumes any cost to the Secretary of State cost could be absorbed within existing resources.

Local Government Impact
According to the Texas Association of Counties, the fiscal impact of the bill would depend on the format of the training. Online training would have minimal impact. However, in person training in Austin could result in travel and lodging costs as well as any possible training costs.
