A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR JOHN HOWARD ROBINSON, ASSISTANT TO THE HOUSE SERGEANT AT ARMS, UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT AFTER TWENTY-EIGHT YEARS OF OUTSTANDING SERVICE AND TO WISH HIM CONTINUED SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS IN ALL HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, it is altogether fitting and proper for the South Carolina House of Representatives to pause in its deliberations to express gratitude to John Howard "Johnny" Robinson for his significant contributions to the members of this body while he served in the Office of the Sergeant at Arms; and

Whereas, after graduating from Camden High in 1967, he served with distinction as a sergeant in the Military Police Corps of the United States Army at Sandia Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico, from 1967 to 1970; and

Whereas, Sgt. Robinson served with the Camden Police Department from 1971-1974, and with the Camden Fire Department as a certified firefighter instructor for the South Carolina Fire Academy from 1973-1986; and

Whereas, in 1981, he joined the Kershaw County Sheriff's Department, serving as a deputy until 1986, and then as juvenile investigator until 1989; and

Whereas, continuing his life of service to the State and nation, Sgt. Robinson began serving the South Carolina House of Representatives in the Office of the Sergeant at Arms in 1991, where he diligently served under the leadership of four Speakers: the Honorable Robert Sheheen, the Honorable David Wilkins, the Honorable Robert Harrell, and the Honorable James Lucas; and

Whereas, a devoted member of the Masons, he is a past Master of Kershaw Lodge 29; and

Whereas, together with his beloved wife, Terri, he reared five delightful children: Craig, Chris, Michael, Missy, and Katie. They have blessed their parents with the affection of twelve adoring grandchildren; and

Whereas, grateful for his many years of distinguished service in this chamber, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives take great pleasure in extending best wishes to Johnny Robinson as he transitions to a richly deserved retirement and the leisurely pace of the days ahead. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor John Howard Robinson, Assistant to the House Sergeant at Arms, upon the occasion of his retirement after twenty-eight years of outstanding service and wish him continued success and happiness in all his future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Johnny Robinson.
