A house RESOLUTION

to express the profound sorrow of the members of the south carolina house of representatives upon the passing of mr. donald "don" ellis of horry county, to celebrate his life, and to extend the deepest sympathy to his family and many friends.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives were deeply saddened by the passing of Mr. Donald "Don" Ellis, of Horry County on January 25, 2021, at the age of seventy-five; and

Whereas, born on November 24, 1945, in Williamsburg County, he was the son of the late Liston and Hallie Jacobs Ellis. He was predeceased by his brother G. L. Ellis; and

Whereas, he was the founder and owner of Ellis Heating and Air for twenty-three years. However, Don was in the heating and air business for fifty-one years; and

Whereas, a military veteran, he served with honor and distinction as a member of the United States Army; and

Whereas, during his decades of service to his community, Don was a Mason and member of the Jordanville Lodge. He was an avid outdoors person who enjoyed cooking for his family and friends, and was a faithful South Carolina Gamecock fan; and

Whereas, Don is remembered as a loving husband to Mary Lee Calhoun Ellis, his wife of fifty-three years. In addition, he leaves to cherish his memory one son, two brothers, two sisters, three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a host of other family members and friends. He will be greatly missed. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, express their profound sorrow upon the passing of Mr. Donald "Don" Ellis of Horry County, celebrate his life, and extend the deepest sympathy to his family and many friends.
