A RESOLUTION

Designating the month of October 2010 as "Disability Employment

2

Awareness Month" in Pennsylvania.

3

WHEREAS, The theme of this year's Disability Employment

4

Awareness month is "Talent Has No Boundaries: Workforce

5

Diversity Includes Workers With Disabilities"; and

6

WHEREAS, Pennsylvanians with disabilities are integral,

7

contributing, productive and valued citizens of this

8

Commonwealth; and

9

WHEREAS, Pennsylvanians with disabilities need to be woven

10

into our work culture with the expectation that they will

11

contribute in every way to our economic successes; and

12

WHEREAS, Businesses which employ people with disabilities

13

many times report an increased level of productivity due to the

14

motivation of the individual; and

WHEREAS, By encouraging and promoting the employment as well

2

as the job-readiness of people with disabilities, we are

3

increasing the ability of those individuals to obtain greater

4

independence, thereby enabling more people to become more

5

involved in all aspects of our society; and

6

WHEREAS, With higher employment rates of people with

7

disabilities, every individual, business and industry in this

8

Commonwealth will benefit; therefore be it

9

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the

10

month of October 2010 as "Disability Employment Awareness

11

Month"; and be it further

12

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives call upon the

13

citizens of this Commonwealth to work toward improving the

14

expectations of employers and Pennsylvanians with disabilities

15

to increase employment opportunities so that people with

16

disabilities become full participants in our economy; and be it

17

further

18

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives celebrate the

19

accomplishments of workers with disabilities and reaffirm its

20

commitment to ensuring that the opportunities of our

21

Commonwealth are available and accessible to every citizen.
