| A RESOLUTION |
| |
1 | Designating March 30, 2010, as "National Doctors' Day" in |
2 | Pennsylvania. |
3 | WHEREAS, National Doctors' Day is held every year on March 30 |
4 | in the United States as a day to celebrate the contribution of |
5 | physicians who serve our country by caring for its citizens; and |
6 | WHEREAS, The first Doctors' Day observance was March 30, |
7 | 1933, in Winder, Georgia, when Eudora Brown Almond, wife of Dr. |
8 | Charles B. Almond, decided to set aside a day to honor |
9 | physicians; and |
10 | WHEREAS, In 1990, Congress designated March 30, 1991, as |
11 | "National Doctors' Day" by the joint resolution of October 30, |
12 | 1990 (Public Law 101-473, 104 Stat. 1096); and |
13 | WHEREAS, Society owes a debt of gratitude to physicians for |
14 | the contributions of physicians in enlarging the reservoir of |
15 | scientific knowledge, increasing the number of scientific tools |
16 | and expanding the ability of health professionals to use the |
17 | knowledge and tools effectively in the never-ending fight |

2 | WHEREAS, Society owes a debt of gratitude to physicians for |
3 | the sympathy and compassion of physicians in ministering to the |
4 | sick and in alleviating human suffering; therefore be it |
5 | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate March |
6 | 30, 2010, as "National Doctors' Day" in Pennsylvania. |
