A RESOLUTION

Honoring sisters Ali and Jamie McMutrie for their heroic efforts

2

in bringing 54 Haitian orphans back to the United States to

3

be united with their adoptive families.

4

WHEREAS, Ali and Jamie McMutrie, from the Ben Avon suburb of

5

Pittsburgh, moved away to care for children at the BRESMA

6

orphanage in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, four years ago; and

7

WHEREAS, Following the devastating earthquake, the sisters

8

contacted family, and Internet support began to spread the word

9

of their desperate situation with the children; and 

10

WHEREAS, Help arrived from Pennsylvania, as Governor Edward

11

Rendell, along with other leaders and doctors, brought the

12

orphans and the McMutries to Pittsburgh; and 

13

WHEREAS, Their flight back from Haiti touched down at

14

Pittsburgh International Airport on January 19th; and

WHEREAS, Jamie McMutrie stayed behind to escort the final

2

orphan, a young girl, and both of them arrived in Pittsburgh on

3

January 20th; and

4

WHEREAS, The McMutries never gave up on even one of the

5

children in their extended Haitian family and deserve most of

6

the credit for accomplishing this seemingly impossible mission;

7

therefore be it 

8

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives honor Ali and

9

Jamie McMutrie for their heroic efforts in bringing 54 Haitian

10

orphans to the United States to be united with their adoptive

11

families; and be it further

12

RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be sent to Ali and

13

Jamie McMutrie.
