| A RESOLUTION |
| |
1 | Honoring Chris Doleman, National Football League defensive end |
2 | and linebacker, on his election into the Professional |
3 | Football Hall of Fame on February 4, 2012. |
4 | WHEREAS, Christopher John Doleman was born October 16, 1961 |
5 | in Indianapolis, Indiana; and |
6 | WHEREAS, Mr. Doleman attended and graduated from William Penn |
7 | High School in 1980, where he competed as a Bearcat in football, |
8 | basketball and volleyball; and |
9 | WHEREAS, While attending William Penn High School, Mr. |
10 | Doleman received great acknowledgments for his athletic |
11 | accomplishments, including, but not limited to, The Associated |
12 | Press's first-team, all-State tight end, United Press |
13 | International's first-team, all-State defensive end and the York |
14 | Daily Record's Top 22 Team as a punter; and |
15 | WHEREAS, In 1981, Mr. Doleman attended Valley Forge Military |

1 | Academy for one year, but transferred to the University of |
2 | Pittsburgh, where he earned a football scholarship and played as |
3 | a star linebacker and defensive end; and |
4 | WHEREAS, Mr. Doleman was drafted as the fourth overall pick |
5 | in the 1985 National Football League (NFL) Draft by the |
6 | Minnesota Vikings and played there until 1993; and |
7 | WHEREAS, After parting ways with the Minnesota Vikings, Mr. |
8 | Doleman played for the Atlanta Falcons from 1994 to 1995 and the |
9 | San Francisco 49ers from 1996 to 1998, before returning to the |
10 | Minnesota Vikings for one last season in 1999; and |
11 | WHEREAS, Mr. Doleman's career statistics include 232 games |
12 | spanning 15 seasons, in which he completed 150 sacks, eight |
13 | interceptions and two touchdowns; and |
14 | WHEREAS, In his professional career, Mr. Doleman played in |
15 | eight Pro Bowl games, was placed on the 1990's NFL All-Decade |
16 | Team and was honored with the 1992 National Football Conference |
17 | Defensive Player of the Year award by United Press |
18 | International; and |
19 | WHEREAS, At the time of his retirement, Mr. Doleman tied for |
20 | second place in most sacks in the NFL for his 1989 performance, |
21 | in which he completed 21 sacks and finished as fourth best in |
22 | total career sacks; therefore be it |
23 | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives express its |
24 | profound congratulations to Chris Doleman on his election into |
25 | the Professional Football Hall of Fame on February 4, 2012. |
